Do You Get It?

I found this sign above a hotel (HOTEL THING CONFLUENCE) and was seriously bemused, amused but gratified for whoever put it up. I have been in constant search of these “funny” signs, and as you can tell, they are in short supply!

About Jiawei

Born and raised in China, British educated, former college language professor, I traded the pulsating career-ladder-climbing for stay-at-home motherhood. After living in the U.S. for twenty years, I now reside in my native country with my husband and two children. I like to write about the joy and challenges of living in China, and my observation of the cultural differences. In between these I weave stories of raising my wonderful kids into well-adjusted globe trotters, and their adventures of bilingualism.

Funny! I’ve been thinking about it and still can’t figure it out. I like the “thing” part. It could be any”thing”. Is it a “motel”? I mean, the heart at the top and confluence? What do you get?

Glad you like it! It’s actually a mini-mart for a hotel. The sign itself means you can get anything and everything! But without the Chinese writing, I wouldn’t know it myself. Tom saw it first in a taxi, then showed me, we started laughing, about the “thing” part!

I welcome your thoughts
